Frontal Sinus Surgery

Frontal sinus surgery can address complications associated with sinusitis in the frontal sinuses. Dr. Swain’s approach is focused on precision and patient safety, utilizing the latest endoscopic methods for effective results. Frontal sinus surgery is typically indicated when a patient presents with chronic frontal sinusitis that has not responded to extensive medical therapy, including antibiotics, nasal corticosteroids, and sinus irrigation. Indications for frontal sinus surgery include nasal polyps, frontal sinus tumors, or anatomical abnormalities obstructing the frontal sinus outflow tract. Additionally, surgery may be necessary to address complications of sinusitis such as mucoceles (mucus-filled cysts) compressing the eye and skull base. The surgery aims to restore adequate ventilation and drainage of the frontal sinus, reduce the number and severity of infections, and improve the patient’s quality of life.
